その分量や中味から相当手間暇かけてまとめたことが伝わってくるような記事だが、運の悪いことに、これと同様の潜入レポートが10日ほど前にBBCで放映されてしまった上、この記事の公開日が1日で、その後24時間も経たないうちに出たPrime Airのヘリコプター映像のおかげですっかり注目を集めるチャンスを失ってしまったとの印象（FacebookやTwitterでの反応はそこそこあったようだが、他の媒体からの言及はほとんど目にしなかった）。なおスワンシーの配送センター内部の様子を撮した写真がDailymailのサイトでみられる（その広さと、そしてたくさんの人間が働いていることが伺われる）。

註2：この記事をまとめたのはNYTimesで長年テクノロジ系の話題をカバーしているJohn Markoff。去年あたりからは、ロボット関連の話題を扱った記事も増えていた人物で、また記事中にはこのために撮影したと思われるRubinの写真もしっかり含まれているので、NYTimesとGoogleがあからじめ仕込んでおいたのかもしれない。
あらかじめこのタイミングで公開する予定だったか、それともAmazonのPrime Air公表を受けて急遽出すことになったかは定かでないが、結果的にGoogleとっては対Amazonの牽制材料という役割と「Rubinは本当にまだGoogleにいるのか？」「まだ在籍しているとしたら、何をやっているのか？」といった疑問を払拭する役割のふたつをこの記事がいっぺんに果たしたことになる。
