マイクロソフトは5月30日、「Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack 1」（Windows SBS 2003 SP1）日本語版と、「Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition Service Pack 1」（Windows SBS 2003 Premium Edition SP1）日本語版の無償ダウンロードおよび、CD-ROMのオーダー受付を開始した。
今回の配布は、OSおよび製品に含まれるサーバコンポーネントの信頼性向上と、基本性能の向上、セキュリティの強化が目的だ。Windows SBS 2003発売以降に公開された更新プログラムを一括で適用できる。また、「Windows SBS 2003 Premium Edition SP1」には「ISA Server 2004」へのバージョンアップも含まれているという。
配布形態はウェブからの無償ダウンロードおよび、実費負担によるCD-ROM頒布。負担額はCD−ROM2枚分となる「Windows Small Business Serber 2003 SP1」が1050円、CD−ROM3枚分となる 「Windows Small Business Serber 2003 Premium Edition SP1」が1260円だ。ダウンロードおよびオーダーは専用ページから可能となっている。
